Weekly Roundup: 4/15 - 4/20

Henry Montgomery swam well in the dual meet with Arapahoe, qualifying for state in both the 200 Free (1:49.39) and 100 Free (49.01), well under the state qualifying times. Oliver Valdez sped his way in the 50 Free with a state-qualifying time of 22.98 seconds. Oscar Valdez was not far behind his brother, achieving a state-worthy time of 23.86 seconds in the 50 Free. The 400 Free Relay team composed of Noah Mooney, Oliver Valdez, Luke Jordan, and Henry Montgomery crushed the competition with a season-best time of 3:22.75, securing their spot at the state meet. 

On 4/16 the Mustangs hit the road to take on the Overland High School Trailblazers. Mullen fell in straight sets 3-0. A couple days later on 4/18, the team had a road match against Valor Christian and, again, fell in straight sets 3-0. They look to change their fortunes on 4/23 when they travel to Heritage High School to take on Littleton Public Schools. 

On 4/16, The Mustang Girls’ Soccer team hit the road for a match up against the Cherokee Trail Cougars. Mullen fell to the Cougars 3-0. On 4/l8, Mullen battled to a 0-0 tie with the Arapahoe Warriors.  On 4/23, the Mustangs will look to get back in the win column when they take on the Eaglecrest Raptors. 

On 4/17, the Mullen Mustangs traveled to Golden High School and fell just short in overtime to the Demons by a score of 7-6.  On 4/19 the Mustangs fell to Dakota Ridge by a score of 16-9. The team will look to bounce back on 4/24 against Conifer High School. 

On 4/16, the Girls’ Lacrosse team hit the road against St. Mary’s Academy.  The Mustangs would get the win, 14-9.  Later in the week on 4/18, Mullen took the field against Conifer and won 15-6. They will look to go for three straight against Green Mountain on 4/23. 

On 4/16, The Mullen Baseball Team hit the diamond at Grandview High School. The Mustangs fell to the Wolves 6-4.  Next, on a freezing cold day Mullen would get a big 10-0 victory over Mead High School.  On 4/19, the Mustangs stayed hot and hosted Pine Creek High School and got the 4-1 win.  Mullen had contributions up and down the line up. Mullen will go for three straight victories when they take on Cherokee Trail Cougars on 4/23. 

On 4/15, the Girls’ Tennis team traveled to D’Evelyn High School and lost a close one to the Jaguars, 4-3.  A couple days later, Mullen hit the road against Chatfield High School and picked up the win with a 5-2 score.  On 4/18, The Mustangs were scheduled to travel to Eaglecrest, but the match was postponed due to weather. 

The Mullen Varsity Golf team placed a strong 2nd at the City League Invitational hosted by East High School.  Co-Captain Jane Gray led the team with a 7th place individual finish while Abby Gray and Co-Captain Riley Sullivan tied for 16th.  The team is focused on regionals with just a month or so left in the season.  Their next challenge will be at the Centennial League event #4 at Murphy Creek on April 22nd where both Varsity and JV will compete.
